How to get Malaysian Visa for Indian Passports

Malaysia is an ultimate destination for tourists but complications in visa process may trouble many travellers. But, thankfully there is no such hitches with the visa application process for Malaysia and you can do it so smoothly.

I’ll help you here by describing the whole process:

Apply Visa Online -eVISA

eVISA is an online application platform that allows foreigners to enter Malaysia at any time of their convenience. eVISA is valid for 3 months.

Go to the website (http://www.imi.gov.my) and click on “I’m New” to start your application process if you are new applicant. Existing users can return to their account by clicking “Returning User”.

Documents Required:

  • Recent passport sized photograph as per Guidelines (in the website during application).
  • Passport front page as per Sample (in the website during application).
  • Confirmed Return flight booking.
  • Birth certificate for minor applicants.
  • Other documentation as per country

The Malaysian Immigration Department or Malaysian Mission Office will be responsible for your application approval. Hence, in case of any doubt, applicants may be required to submit additional documents or be called for an interview in person or via skype with Malaysia Consulate / Malaysia High Commission / Malaysian Embassy.

Take a printout of your eVISA as it will be crucial to show it to the airport on your arrival at Malaysia.

  • confirmed air ticket for returning
  • Accommodation proof

Visa Fee

  • For Single/Multiple Entry Visa – 50 RM
  • For Transit Visa – 50 RM

Apply Visa Online with VFS Global

  • Download the visa application form from the website (http://www.vfsglobal.com). Fill out your application form correctly and affix your photograph.
  • Photographs must complete all the required criteria as mentioned in the application form.
  • Attach all the documents which are required. Make sure you have completely fill in the application form because incomplete forms are not approved.
  • Submit your application at any of the VFS Malaysia Visa Application Centres – Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune and Ahmedabad. Also submit the fee required either in cash or via demand draft as mentioned.
  • You can track your application online.
  • You can get your passport couriered by VFS centre or directly collect from there.

How to collect passport

If you collect your passport in person, you need to carry the below listed documents with you:

  • The original acknowledgment receipts given to you by VFS Global at the time of application deposit at the VFS Malaysia Visa Application Centre.
  • Your National ID proof containing your photograph
  • A copy of your photographic ID

If a representative receives your passport on your behalf

  • The original acknowledgment receipts given to you by VFS Global at the time of application deposit at the VFS Malaysia Visa Application Centre.
  • Provide an individual authorization letter (s) signed by the respective applicant (s)
  • Representative National ID proof containing your photograph
  • A copy of your representative photographic ID
